Kelly Bennis

At the National High School Festival in Pennsylvania in 2008 she was the Canadian recipient of a US college/university scholarship and studied at DeSale’s University summer program. Choreography and teaching continue to be her passion, and she hopes that her back injury allows her to continue pursing her dreams. She is a well loved and respected dance teacher and is the daughter to Miss Deborah Cameron A.R.A.D. principal of Cameron Academy of Classical Dance.

Brendan Saye trained at Cameron Academy until he was asked to join the National Ballet School in Toronto. Upon graduation, Brendan became the the recipient of the 2008 Peter Dwyer Award and the 2008 Christopher Ondaatje Award. He joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2008, joined the Corps de Ballet in 2009 and was promoted to Second Soloist in 2013.

Mr. Saye’s repertoire includes the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Icicle in The Nutcracker as well as roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Onegin, Giselle, Don Quixote,Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, La Fille mal gardée, The Seagull, Hamlet, Carmen, The Four Seasons, Opus 19/The Dreamer, In The Upper Room, the second detail, Glass Pieces,West Side Story Suite, Chroma, Emergence, No. 24 and Enkeli. Cameron Dance Academy Dancers – Sophia Lee now Principal of Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

NEWS ANNOUCEMENT: Sophia Lee also trained at Cameron Academy and has just been promoted to PRINCIPAL DANCER with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company. Sophia was accepted into the Royal Winnipeg school at the age of 14 years and completed the Royal Winnipeg year 6 level in the spring of 2010, as well, received the Prince Edward scholarship award, the highest award the school presents. Sophia performed soloist spots in the school’s outreach performances. She was chosen to attend the Banff Professional Division in July 2010 and was cast in three works. She began the “Aspirant” program with RWB September 2010, with a full calendar of performing opportunities including a pas de deux televised for the Canadian Genies Awards in the Spring of 2011. She joined the company in the corps de ballet in the fall of 2011 and has a remarkable journey to date. We congratulate Sophia on her recent appointment, and success for her future. Sophia’s debut performance was in Svengali with the RWB in Vancouver in April 2011, “Juliet” in Romeo and Juliet in Jan. 30 – Feb 1, 2013 at the QE Theatre and the Nutcracker.

We look forward to seeing Sophia on her next appearance on stage in Vancouver.

Our Children’s Dance Summer School runs Monday to Thursday August 24 to 28.

Summer School is recommended for those students wishing to be entered for exams and those attending will be considered for Festival work in the new upcoming season.
