Baby Ballerinas & Danseurs 1– A delightful class for 3-4 year olds where music, movement, and stories are used to introduce the beginning vocabulary for Ballet. We specialize in the use of imagery for portraying movement.
Baby Ballerinas & Danseurs 2 – A second year level where the children progress from the fundamentals of Level 1 becoming more independent in the performance of the work, still emphasizing imagery in portraying movement.
Presentation Levels for Boys and Girls: Pre-Primary – This is the first level of syllabus training of the Royal Academy of Dance. Students have the opportunity to perform their work for a special representative of the Royal Academy of Dance. Emphasis is on music awareness when performing basic ballet steps.
Graded Examinations Levels for Boys and Girls: (GE) Primary to Grade 5 – A steady progression of Syllabus material of the RAD, where performances of examinations reward the confidence gained by the students from their love of dance, hard work and dedication to the art. Each grade stimulates the student with training in ballet, lyrical (free movement) and national character.
Graded Examinations Upper Levels for Boys and Girls: (GE) Grade 6 – 8– A syllabus designed to encourage the students to continue with dance through high school without the formidable expectations of pointe work in the exam. The choreography of the syllabus using ballet, lyrical and national character styles is challenging and inspiring, nurturing both the artistic and technical presentation of student’s work. A Grade 8 Award enables the student to become a member of the RAD.
Vocational Graded Examinations Levels for Boys and Girls: (VGE) Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advance 1 and Advance 2 – For the students who wish to pursue a career in teaching or dance, or who love the challenges of pointe work, this is the path to take. Once again, a successful completion of the Intermediate Foundation examination, enables a student membership to the Royal Academy of Dance. With the successful result of the Intermediate examination, the student is entitled to become a full member of the RAD. The Intermediate level is the entry level for aspiring teachers to enrol in the CBTS qualification program.
Lyrical – Uses modern, ballet and jazz based steps to emphasize emotional portrayal of a story or event. Lyrical supports the Free movement section in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, where the exploration of movement is based on letting emotion lead, creating opposite uses of suspension and gravity in interpreting the music.
Adult Ballet Class – For women who have always wanted to learn Ballet, or for those who wish to return to ballet, this is the opportunity to do so. A class where the beauty of classical movement and music are shared with the camaraderie and fun of learning.
Fine Arts Credits – Fine Arts credits are available through the BC Education Board for completion of the RAD Higher Grade examinations.
